Hi I have a new GE fridge and had a problem with the water smelling like rotten eggs (literally) when dispensed out of the fridge. That filter lasted about 6 months and was the original one. I changed the filter and when I did the filter smelled terrible. I put in the new one and it worked great, no smells or anything. Well it has been just about a month and it is coming back again. I do not have a problem with the water that comes out of my sink. Any thoughts?
thanks

There is a water reservoir or at least a long series of cooling line coils to chill the water. The reservoir probably has bacteria growing in it.

You can remove the filter and run lots of water through to try and reduce the bacteria. I'm not sure what kind of access you have to the reservoir, but it would be good to add a few drops of bleach to the water and let it sit for a day to further eliminate bacteria.

You will probably have to replace the current filter because it now harbors bacteria.

These are just suggestions. If anyone has has anything to contribute, please do.
