i need to remove the back of my kenmore belt driven washer, in order to replace the inlet valve. i have it disconnected , except i can not get the top section loose--- where the 2 clips are connected to it from the section where the controls are located. ( i have the controls section disconnected and all). on each side of the top , where i disconnected the control section, there are two clips/clasps which hook into the back. can anyone help me on how to remove it from these? it seems like it shoud slide up and then they would slip out, but NO. thanks to anyone who can help. i need to get this thing running again !!!!! :(

i had this very same problem. i talked to a local repairman and he told me to remove the entire casing from the front of the washer. pop off the two pieces on the ends of the "control panel", lift it up, unhook the electrical connections and there may be a few screws on the back to take out, too. anyway, you can get to everything much easier if you remove the 3-sided cover instead of trying to take the back off. i had much more trouble getting the dmned thing back on than i did replacing the pump or the belt.
