I was draining my pool for the winter and all of a sudden the pump shut off. It normally doesn't do this unless I have the A/C and clothes dryer running at the same time b/c I think they all might be on the same circuit. I went to the breaker box and the one that is normally tripped was still in the on position. I went inside to check the fuse box and none of the "buss" cleartop fuses were burned out. I went back outside and reset the breaker anyway. I attempted to turn the pump on again and it only ran for a fraction of a second. I reset all the breakers in the panel and re-checked all the fuses in the box inside. I got tired of messing with it and went inside to do a load of laundry and noticed that the outlet to my washing machine was "dead" and also noticed that the dryer was not heating up, it tumbles but does not heat. I checked all the parts in the dryer with a multimeter and they all checked out fine. Everything else in the house works fine except for whats mentioned above. The breaker outside that trips most of the time this happens, is a "piggyback" breaker if that means anything. 1 room,laundry,pool and a/c run off this circuit I think. Now the a/c runs fine and the room outlets work fine, but the pool pump and the "dead" outlet to the washer and dryer heating issue are the only problems. There is no GFI involved. WHAT'S GONG ON?
