ok it might sound silly, but I have narrowed it down to the watering days for my lawn. We just purchased our house and I have been trying to figure this out and this is as far as I have got. It will only make a tray of ice once every few days....... I considered buying a new ice maker, but now that I have noticed its pattern, I think a new one will just do the same thing...
Has anyone ever heard of such a thing before, and if so, please steer me in the right direction as to fixing this silly problem...other than buying a bag of ice....
thanks
stephanie

 well i guess it is still unsolved... i had a handy man come look at it and he thinks that where the copper tubing is placed might not have enough water pressure until the sprinklers come on... so i guess i will try to move it closer to the kitchen sink... but thanks to ALL the people on here that REPLIED!!!

.... problem doesn't sound possible.
There must be something else...
Model Number would help.
Check the voltage at the Water Inlet Valve, & water pressure there, (if & when) the IceMaker is calling for water.ect...

In my uneducated opinion if what he says is true wouldnt you see low water pressure in other parts of the house as well? I do not agree this is the problem. Since I am lazy i do the easy thing first. Check the water at an out door hose bib before checking the unit. If you suspect a water pressure issue, you can buy a water pressure guage from the local hardware store and place it on the hose bib. Make sense? By the way! could the more logical explaination be a clogged inlet valve? Matter / Junk maybe blocking the valve causing low water pressure. Incidentally, too high of water pressure is not good either..tends to be hard on the pipes and could damage your unit. Most manufacturers have a listed recommended water pressure for their unit.
