Hot Point Washing Machine

Hot Point Washer Wont Agitate But It Does Spin And Everything Else. I Can Move Agitator Both Ways By Hand. I Am Taking For Granted It Is Probably The Timer Mechanism But Want To Make Sure Before I Spend 70.00 On A New Timer. Please Help

Unfortunately, the washer is the most difficult applliance to diagnose and repair. It could be the timer, but it could be the motor, a relay, or the agitator mechanism itself.

One thing to determine is what is happen during the agitation cycle. Is it trying to agitate, is the motor running, does it make any sound?

No, there was no motor running or noise. It just sat there. I changed the timer and it is working again. Thanks
