Hello,
I've been having some problems with our dishwasher. It started out with a little noise and than worked into a LOT of noise and then finally when it went into the wash cycle it would do nothing except make a very loud buzzing noise.

I took it apart and found junk in and around the chopper and the chopper was busted. I replaced the chopper and while I was in their I put in a new rubber check valve as the old one seemed to be swollen up and not fitting right anymore.

Well, I thought that clearing all the junk out and replacing the chopper assembly was going to get me back to everything working great but still nothing but a loud buzz noise from the wash pump motor.

So, I'm thinking now that maybe the motor, maybe the start capacitor or maybe the TCO fuse which looks to be inline before the motor but I can't find that fuse.

Can anyone tell me where this TCO fuse is located? How about how to check the motor and the capacitor. Anything else make that motor give a loud buzz. Its turns free so its not locked up.

Thanks in advance for any help you may have.

Thanks!

a loud buzz noise from the wash pump motor. Can the motor be turned by hand? It's not just jammed up somehow?

the TCO fuse which looks to be inline before the motorIt is inline with everything in the dishwasher. If it was open nothing on the dishwasher would work at all. It is not the cause of your problem if the motor is getting power as evidenced by the motor humming. (The thermal protector is inside the control console BTW)

I'm thinking now that maybe the start capacitorThey don't fail very often but you can read how to go about checking them at the following link:

LINK > Testing a capacitor (http://tinyurl.com/268zsg)

I'm thinking now that maybe the motorIf something is not physically hampering the movement of the motor, that may be a possibility. Operating the dishwasher while is was experiencing obvious distress could have damaged the motor internally. It is available separately and also already assembled along with the sump to simplify installation.

Thanks very much for your reply. The motor does turn free so nothing causing it from turning that way. I looked at the link for checking the start cap and it says you are to use a swing needle type meter (software doesn't like the name of the other type of meter) and all I have is a digital so I may have to do some digging or borrow one.

I had another thought about the power, what about the relay in the console for the wash pump motor. Do you know if the relay is part of the control board? This is relay K1 and it seems like it is not changable, part of the board?

Thanks for any more info you may have.
Thanks.

K1 is part of the Controller Board.
