I have a SubZero 700 series freezer (top with a door and the bottom with two drawers, the ice maker is in the bottom drawer.

The ice maker stopped making ice several months ago. I have been making ice manually, but a few weeks ago, after doing a big grocery shop, the freezer was packed full and suddenly I opened the bottom drawer to find a full ice cube drawer! It worked for about a week or so, and as the freezer emptied, it stopped making ice.

Last week I filled the freezer again, and once more the ice maker started making ice. Now the freezer is starting to get empty and the ice maker is no longer making ice.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? I am perplexed!

Thanks in advance

The freezer needs to be cold enough (approx. +5°F to -2°F) for the icemaker to run. Maybe the freezer wasn't quite cold enough and the added load of warm food caused it to run longer thereby reducing the temperature enough for the icemaker to operate??

I can't think of any other reason adding food would have any affect on an icemaker's operation.

BTW. Make sure the unit's condenser coil (the hot part) is *thoroughly* clean. Perform that maintenance regularly (3-4 times a year, more if you have pets!).
