I have a Whirlpool dishwasher GU2500 that started getting loud when running through a normal cycle. We started to notice the noise level was increasing, but we continued to run it anyway. It eventually stopped running. The only thing it does is the "Clean Dishes" light blinks 7 times then pauses, then blinks again 7x and pauses etc. If I press cancel, it shows 2 minutes remaining and runs the last 2 minutes in a normal wash cycle then that's it. It drains the water during this time but that's all.

This is only about 4 years old. We have 7 in our household and have run it several times a day, every day. Heavy use, but I tried my best to rinse the dishes before loading.

Any suggestions? - layman terms please.
Thank you!

We started to notice the noise level was increasing, but we continued to run it anyway. That's not a great idea. There may be a foreign object in the pump which could do damage to parts of the wash system.

It eventually stopped running. The pump motor may have now failed due to the above or hopefully, the pump is just jammed up because of it without damaging the motor or parts of the pump.

http://www.acmeparts.com/forum/images/icons/icon4.gif Running an appliance when it is known to be malfunctioning usually leads to more extensive (and expensive to repair) damage. Problems should be looked into at the first signs of trouble to keep repair bills to a minimum.

the "Clean Dishes" light blinks 7 times then pauses, then [repeats] Causes for that are described at the following link as well as the one previously supplied. The pump not functioning is one of them. Its operation will likely need to be looked into.

BTW. GU2500 is only part of a model number. If you need any more assistance the complete model number will usually be needed. You can find tips for locating the model and serial number identification tag on your appliances at the following link:
