I have a kenmore ice maker that stop working recently. I used to here the water going into the unit, but now all I here is a hum. I replaced the water valve but that did not seem to fix the problem. I have checked the water line, replaced the filter and checked for kinks in the line.

A hum usually comes from the solenoid on the inlet valve. Since you already replaced that, we need to investigate a little more.
There is no doubt in your mind that water is getting to the inlet valve right? If you disconnected the water line, water spray everywhere, right?
You put a brand new inlet valve with new solenoids on right? No used parts, no solenoids removed from the old valve?
The next thing is to determine if current is getting to the inlet valve when it is signaled by the icemaker. If you have through the door water, then just switch the wires on the inlet valve and push the water button to see water enters the ice maker. Otherwise, you will have to refer to our article for instructions diagnosing the problem. Ice maker diagnosis (http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/icemaker/diagicemaker.php)
