Since i moved into my 40 yr old house 15 years ago i have had a problem with the main circuit box. When a light bulb blows, either on the lighting circuit or on the 13 amp(a table lamp or such) the breaker for that circuit trips out.it resets ok when pressed. Does any one know what causes this and how it can be stopped. It seems that the breaker detects the loss of current but i'm not sure it should. Any help or advice gratefully accepted

Circuit breakers do wear out. Your breaker may just be overly sensitive and replacement might solve that.

You're saying that a bulb simply burning out will trip it? Do you have any reason to suspect a more serious wiring problem may be involved?
