I have a 1974 mobile home. The power comes to the pole and there is an outside breaker (100 amp) and two outlets (they have their own breakers). The main wire goes into the trailer to the breaker box (100 amp). Lately when I have the dryer on the breaker at the pole outside trips. I checked and found mice had chewed the wires on the wire going from the inside electrical box to the dryer plug, so repaired them. I ran the dryer for 30 minutes with other power on and it did not trip. Now it is tripping again. The 30 amp breaker for the dryer doesn't trip, nor does the 100 amp breaker in the electrical box in the trailer trip. It is only the 100 amp breaker at the pole. Questions: (1) could I have a short in the dryer? How would I test for this? (2) could I have a short in the main wire from the pole to the electrical box in the trailer? How would I test for this? (3) Should I replace the wire from the dryer plug to the electrica box? (4) could it be the breaker on the pole outside is bad? (5) could I have a short in the electrical box on the outside pole?

It is only when the dryer is on that the 100 amp breaker on the outside pole trips, whether I have other power sources on or not. Thanks. peace

Do you have an electric range? If so, does turning on the oven and a burner to high trip the breaker?

Yes, there is an electric range, but it does not trip the breaker when on. I checked the dryer cord and dryer for a short, checked the outlet, checked the wire from the outlet to the service panel and checked the wire from outside to the service panel. I did find one screw was loose on the 30 amp breaker, so tightened. Ran the dryer and oven for 30 minutes - OK, then ran the dryer and washer for 40 minutes - OK. Dryer ran for 1 1/2 hours with no trip, so am hoping that the loose screw was the problem. I did notice the 30 amp breaker was warm when I touched it. peace
