Model Name: Electronic Cycle Selector
Model #: LA9800XTWO

The Problem is that the agitator stops before the wash cycle is complete. For example, the wash cycle starts and the agitator works for about three minutes. However, the wash cycle is 10 min, so for 7 minutes the clothes just sits there before going into the rinse. Spin mode. Two years ago a new motor was put in and I have replaced the agitator, dogs, etc. Every thing else seems to be working fine. Any ideas? Lastly, this washer is 16 yrs old. Many thanks for reading my thread.

Your washing machine has had a good life, well maybe it hasn't but it has had a long life. Washers can go for a long time, but at 16, I wouldn't invest whole of money trying to keep it going.

In this case, there could be a variety of problems. The new motor and agitator repairs rule out some, but ther are still several possibilities including a problem with the timer control. You don't mention any problem with the spin function of the basket, so I'd look at the timer control as a possibility.

But really, I'd recommend shopping for a new washer.
