I have 6 to 8 yr old kenmore washer. It will run through the wash cycle and agitates fine, but stops just before the rinse cycle. It will not drain, rinse and then spin. I do not hear any particular noise or anything. I kept trying it last night and if finally worked, but it is out again today. It just stops at the exact same place on every type of cycle. Any thoughts?

Thanks, I have tried bumping the cycle selector knob and it worked once, but now no luck. I just mannualy drained the water to near the bottom, held down the close lid latch and put it on spin and it worked. Do you think it could be the timer control or a water level switch?

Hard to say for sure, but it sounds like the points in the timer are stuck. Ya could try to file the points down with a small file (make sure theirs no voltage to the machine), its not that hard to do on most timers. if ya take the back off the top youll c the timer, their should be a plastic cover over one end, pull it off, and look at the points, turn knob (youll have to take the knob off and remove 2 phillops screws to get the timer out) and c if any of the points stay connected when you turn the knob, their may be a couple set of points that sta togather most of the time, but they all should separate at soon or later. if you find a set that are sticking togather, a small fingernail fill can be used to refile the contacts,, this will not last forever, and most timers are expensive. hope this fixes your prob trh
