I have a Roper electric dryer model number EL4030VU0, with the filter on top. Yesterday it ran for about 10 minutes and quit, accompanied by a burning odor. It started again at the touch of the button, but this time ran about four minutes. Now the burning smell starts immediately when the dryer is started
The exaust is totally clear, it's only about two feet straight out of the house. I took the dryer apart, and the burning smell is definitely coming from the heater not the motor. There doesn't appear to be anything stuck on the coils, but I can't be sure, as I haven't taken the heater section apart yet, I'm not so sure on how to do that.
