The washer is only about 2 years old (topload), and when it gets to the end of a spin cycle, it vibrates - similar to an unbalanced load - and then shuts off. Lifting the lid and setting it back down will cause the machine to enter its next cycle and proceed on until it is ending the next spin cycle, which results in the smae scenario. All of the balancing springs are attatched, and seem fine. When looking under the machine, I see no evidence of broken parts on the floor. The machine sits on a wood framed floor, and has been in it's current location since it was purchased. I have perused the forums, and noticed that one suggestion is the tub wear pads, but I have not been able to find these on my machine.

Any suggestions ?

Dave,
I am having the exact problem with my Kenmore. Maybe they are manufactured by the same company. Anyway, I just found out on Saturday that the transmission which is likely the culprit is warranteed for 5 years so I am calling Sears today to request service.

Let me know if you discover anything we can do to repair. I have done some work on washers before.

Scott

It looks like I only have a 1 year warranty on the unit - which doesn't help me much :(

We actually have a 5 year on the gear box, so I called out the service man. I wasn't home at the time of the repair, but according to the receipt, they replaced the 'drive block' not sure what it is or where it is located, but the washer is working much better now.
