micro wont spin

i have a ge built in microwave that is the glass plate is not rotating
all the time. the problem is intermittent.
if i wait between cycles it will spin for a while but not complete the
preset cycle, the glass stops spinning and the "tone" of the micro changes pitch but it keeps running. when the plate does spin it is heating normal. also yesterday for the first time in 7 years i had to
reset the circuit breaker at the main switch panel for the microwave.
it had tripped to the open position.?? :confused:

I don't know this for a fact, but I believe the problem with the plate has to do with a plastic gear that has worn down. I don't know whether you could get the part or if you would have to replace the whole mechanism.

Microwaves are one of the few appliances that we more often recommend replacing than repairing.
