Whirlpool Washer won't agitate...

My Roper/Whirlpool washer will go through every cycle, but when it is time to agitate, it just makes a weird buzzing sound. It spins just fine, and all I can find for troubleshooting tips is suggestions for when the washer won't spin AND agitate. Please help!!!

Did you notice if the agitation cycle was getting weaker before this happened? If so, then I would pull the agitator and inspect the mechanism that drives the agitator.

Some washers have a two way motor, one direction is for spin and the other direction is for agitate. If the motor was bad in one direction, the circuitry bad or the timer control for that function was bad, it would cause this problem also.
