Freezer Won't Freeze And Compressor Makes Buzzing Noise

I have a Sears Kenmore side by side refrigerator model #253 it started making noise and the freezer thaws but the fridge still cools and this buzzing noise happens every 2 to 3 minutes. This continues for two days and than it stops and the freezer works again. What could be causing this problem??

I suspect your start relay may be failing. Also the compressor could be hard to start and so a special "hard start" relay may be needed to get it going.
