Replacement of smoothtop burner

I have a Maytag PER5750QAW electric smoothtop range that is approximately three years old. The right front burner has quit heating. Is there anything special that I need to look out for before attempting to replace the heating element myself.

The burners are modular and fairly easy to remove.

However, the problem could also be the switch or the wiring.
