[FONT=Times New Roman]My Home Thearter is no longer reconizing a cd when loaded what could be the problem. I sented the unit into repair and they said it would cost about 300.00 dollars. Can anyone give me idea what could be wrong. I was thinking it could be the laser reader.[/FONT]

Any repair on electronic equipment is usually expensive and it is not unusual to be more than the equipment is worth.

In your case, and in most cases, it is unlikely that the problem is repairable by you. The parts are rarely available to the public, specialized test equipment is often required and so diagnosis and repair may be impossible.

Since it won't recognize a CD, the laser may be out of alignment (or many other possibilities). Relaligning the laser is generally possible outside the repair facility.

I googled this receiver unit and I see it's an integrated system. You could replace the receiver and keep the speakers to save some cash. A used SA-HT70 or an equivalent unit can be had off EBay for under $100. I'd go that route before trying to repair the unit myself. And I would defintely tell the repair shop to forget it.
