Leaky Washing Machine

The washer leaks onto the floor, and it seems to be running down the shaft that goes into the tub. I've had the thing mostly apart, agitator out, front and top panels off, and then I'm stumped. The inner tub is as far as I can get. Is it feasible to get the inner tub out and replace the rubber tub seal?

After you remove the agitator, there should be a lock nut underneath, securing the inner tub to the hub. To remove it, you need a spanner wrench, and possibly a specialty version to fit your particular brand of washer.

Remove that lock nut and you should be able to lift out the inner tub. If it is stuck, then you may need a second person to alternately lift and push down to break the seal to the hub.
