clothes are twisted

My clothes after a wash (any cycle) come out twisted in knots and wrinkled, what is going on?

If you observe the agitation cycle I suspect you will see that the agitator is not turning back and forth as it should. If so, the problem could be in the agitator mechanism or the transmission. Refer to acmehowto.com for more info on diagnosing the problem.
