Subwoofer works intermitantly on Panasonic SA-HT70

In order to make a long story short, I recently purchased a Panasonic SA-HT70 home theater system that my daughters hamster got loose and hid in the subwoofer and chewed the wires in two. I twist tied the wires back together in the subwoofer but it hasnt worked since except for intermittantly. Any advice!

I'd replace the wire end to end with an equivalent sized wire.

There isn't too much in there to be damaged. A close inspection should reveal any serious problems.
