Default Ice Maker Problems

My Kenmore ice maker makes ice and goes partially thru the cycle and leaves the ice on the top part of the ice maker. If I lift the metal arm up and let it back down, it completes the cycle by pushing the ice off the top and into to the ice bucket, then filles back up with water. Sometimes it will make ice for a couple of hours and then does the same thing and sometimes I have to lift the metal arm up after each batch to keep it going.

The gears that I can see with the cover off appear to be in good shape.

Please help! ! ! !

If the arm is in the up position when the cycle stops, then I suspect the arm or switch inside is slightly out of adjustment and the unit is actually turning itself off. Otherwise, I suspect the "hold" switch may be the problem.
