My automatic icemaker stopped making ice. The icemaker goes through the normal motions, without the water. I can get water out of the water dispenser but no water out of the water line going to the icemaker. Replaced the filter, which made no difference. Replaced the valve and still didn't have water into the icemaker, only the water dispenser. So the original one was working. There is no ice blockage. I crossed the electrical lines and was able to get water to the icemaker when I tried to get water out of the water dispenser. It sounds like the the valve opens up to fill the ice tray but still no water. Any ideas?

So you tested the icemaker water valve and it worked, when signalled from the through the door water, right?

I'd suspect something electircal starting twith the switch in the icemaker, or the wiring to the icemaker. If your icemaker is a type that uses a module, instead of switches, then check out the testing procedures on the acmehowto.com website

I am having the same problem. Did you find a solution? My ice maker goes through all of the motions, but at the time that water is supposed to be released nothing happens. Only once in the last 24 hrs has it dispensed water and worked correctly. Water dispenses fine from the front of the fridge. I am wondering if this is electrical (as suggested above)?

Check to see if your water fill tube is frozen up

I had the same problem but refused to believe my wife who said the fill tube must have frozen. When I finally checked, it sure enough was frozen solid. THree minutes with a hair dryer and my problem was gone and I have had ice ever since.

I have the same problem. Which tube was frozen? Where can I find this tube?

The tube that can become froze is the fill tube. it is situated just above the ice mold. It goes out the back of the freezer and down to the water inlet valve. The freezing occurs inside the freezer but my extend a bit out the back to.

Ordinarily there should be no standing water in that tube to freeze. So if it does freeze, it probably means your water inlet valve is leaking. The slow drip can cause the freeze up in the fill tube.

I also have a kenmore frig that does not make ice. I jumped the v and l and water filled the tray. Does this mean that the valve is bad? If so how do I change it.

If you jumpered and got water, your valve is bad. To replace int is at bottom of back side of unit at bottom. Disconnect the electric pull of power connection and 1 or 2 screws will hold it aon. You will also need to shut water off and disconnect water line.
