Default Maytag washer

I have an older belt driven Maytag washer and it has stopped spinning.
I replaced both belts and the pump belt will spin but not the drive belt. When it is off and I move the pump belt by hand both will turn not under its own power. I moved the pump as far out as possible and that didnt help. The motor can be moved and when I moved that back as far as possible to put more tension on the belt it never starts spinning and when theres too much tension the motor stops.

any ideas?
Nick

You can turn both the pump belt and spin belt by hand right? You can turn the spin belt in either direction?

You've inspected the condition of the spin belt it seems fine?

There is adequate tension on the spin belt?

If so, then the problem is likely that the motor has failed. You have a two direction motor that turns only in one direction. Or the motor does not have the power to turn the spin drum.
