Default Refrigerator - Ice maker ice cubes will not eject

The following is a reprint from our Ask the Expert feature on AcmeHowTo.com

Question: My ice maker (modular style, flat plug in whirlpool side-by-side)isn't working. Everything works and tests fine but the cubes will not eject. I have actually replaced the maker twice with two new units and all of them do exactly the same. Honestly, it acts just like you would expect if the mold heater were not working but using these three units, I can't imagine they are all defective. Is there anything else beyond this unit that would cause the heater not to work or would make it act like that? Wiring or anything else??

Thanks-

Answer: Look at the fill tube just above the ice mold. Watch it for a while, is it dripping? If so, the problem is that the water inlet valve is leaking and needs tobe replaced. Electrically, if the unit works, the mold heater would have current too. I'm betting it it’s the inlet valve.
