Default Dishwasher leaking from the side

The following is a reprint from our Ask the Expert feature on AcmeHowTo.com

Question: My GE dishwasher is leaking from the side. There is a hose coming from the inlet valve and going into the dishwasher. Where the hose goes into the dishwasher is where it's leaking. The hose doesn`t look like its leaking and i don`t think there is a clog. Is there a rubber washer or band of some sort that maybe needs to be replaced??

Answer: The hose that goes from the inlet valve to the dishwasher is the fill hose. It should not have water unless the DW is filling or rinsing. The place where it connects to the interior should have a seal or connector for the hose. If that seal/connector is deteriorated it would cause a leak. Also if water is getting through there, you may have a rust problem too. Be sure to clean and repair any rust spots with an enamel compound to protect the metal from deterioration.
