Default CD-RW Drive problem

Hey ppl, im new in this forum and i have a problem with my CD drive. It used to play DVDs as well as other formats but some time later, my pc got hit by a virus. After restoring all my data, i realized that the my Imation CD-RW starts to malfunction. Whenever i insert a DVD, nothing will happen. If i insert an empty disc, an error will show (Incorrect function. E: not accessible) and i cannot copy files into it. Only CDs with files can be accessed. I think the virus was the main cause of this; are there fixes for this problem?
