Thumbs down No water going to Whirlpool icemaker

My 2-3 year old Whirlpool Gold side by side fridge has a problem with the water line to the icemaker. Recently, the icemaker froze up ad couldn't eject the ice. I took it out and cleaned and reinstalled it. It appears to go through the normal cycle when the arm is put in the on position. I can also feel the heating element on the bottom heat up. But there is nothing activating the water to come in. I checked the line coming up the back and the inlet into the freezer. All clear. Any suggestions on what to check? The water dispenser on the front works fine.

Default Water or not.

I'm sorry, but from your message it was not clear whether you were getting water in the tray or not.

However, in either event, the most likely problem is in the inlet water valve itself. A freeze up usualy results from a leaking inlet valve. And if this was followed by no ice, then the inlet valve may be completely dead.

See our website for instructions on testing and replacement of the Water inlet valve .
