Ok, I've got a Frigidaire Gallery model, with ice/water dispenser. R134-A model, approx 5 years old. It appears to have lost all it's "cool" output. Lights still work. The ice/water dispenser wasn't working when I first tried it, but after fidgeting, it came to life again. However, the water dispenser likes to get stuck "on" at times, and the light tends to flicker while it dispenses. Only way to shut it off is to switch it to ice. I have automotive R134 gauges, but haven't bothered hooking them up as it appears it isn't a freon problem. My initial thought is the water/ice dispenser is somehow shorted inside, robbing power from the compressor? I have no experience in appliance repair whatsoever, but have been an automotive tech for years, so my guess can be, and probably is, way off. Any ideas are more then appreciated!

It does sound like an electrical problem, but there are some other possibilities.

First off, the water getting stuck on is likely a problem with the water inlet valve or the switch you push to call for water. If the switch is not sticking then the inlet valve needs to be replaced.

The no cooling problem, is more likely unrelated to the water problem above, however, if it is an electrical problem, then there could be a relationship.

If it is an electrical problem, then there is no other way than methodical detective work to run it down.

Thanks for the reply! Turned out to be unrelated. I was 4 lbs low on freon....can't find a leak, so just filled her up and keeping my fingers crossed for now. The sticking water seems to have stopped, but I have located the inlet valve and am prepared to clean her up if she acts up again. Thanks again,
