Default Amana washing machine problem

I have an Amana Heavy Duty 7 cycle washer that is not working properly. I set it on normal and the tub started to fill. It filled to about 1/3 the way up the agitator and quit. I can move the dial anywhere and pull out and nothing happens.

On the load size knob, there is a reset and when I put it to there the tub fills the rest of the way then nothing.

I wet vacced the water out and flipped the breaker and put the main knob on heavy regular and it does the same thing, fills up 1/3 and quits.

I thought it may be a lid close switch but I can't see where it is on this model.

Any suggestions.

Thanks

Joe

If it isn't filling to the proper level, then I'd start with the pressure switch which determines when it has properly filled. If it fills to the proper level, then the lid switch is the first thing to check. It is depressed when the lid is closed, so inspect the edges to find the switch. While it should be visible, it probably is not accessible without opening up the chassis. See the instructions on the acmehowto.com website.
